Caritas

CARITASIn partnership with Caritas, we are able to annually host a group of guests for a week, offering shelter and meals. This event requires a great deal of volunteers to help and donate needed supplies. We are honored to be able to serve the greater Richmond community in this way. You can learn more about Caritas here.

Worship at University Park

University_ParkOnce a month on Sunday afternoons, volunteers enjoy worship with residents of The Laurels at University Park, a nursing and rehabilitation facility. This unique opportunity enables some of our neighbors to participate in a Christian communal worship service, which they otherwise might not be able to do.

Christmas Giving Trees

Giving_TreesEach year, we have several giving trees located around the church. Please consider taking an angel from our angel trees for children from Harvie Elementary school and children whose parents are incarcerated or donating hats and mittens for any age for Caritas. Angel tree gifts are usually due back to the church by mid-December. There is no deadline for hats and mittens. Thank you!

Career Prospectors

Career_ProspectorsThis is a very active networking group for workers in transition that meets weekly on Tuesdays at 7:30 am. We provide mentoring, training opportunities, refresher techniques for interviewing, resume writing, timely gathering of job information, and general support as you travel your path to a new career position. Career Prospector & Jam where you may join, provides event details. The Career Prospector LinkedIn group supports job seekers with contacts and job postings. For information, contact Charlie Wood at CharlieWood@AttributesForSucccess.com.

Thanksgiving Baskets

thanksgiving_basketsWe are happy to have the opportunity to distribute Thanksgiving baskets each November to our food pantry guests who otherwise may not be able to celebrate Thanksgiving. Last year we gave baskets to over 50 families. Turkeys and hams will be provided. We are asking you to consider providing canned/boxed side dishes from the list below. You can drop them off in the food pantry box just inside the front doors of the church.  Please bring items no later than Sunday, November 11 so we will know if we have to purchase any food. Help is also needed to assemble the baskets in the downstairs fellowship hall at 12 pm on Sunday, November 18. If you have questions, please contact Karen Cullen at khcullen8185@gmail.com.
