With all the excitement and planning at TCPC these days, the church is taking time to listen to what its members have to say about the church and their experiences here. A Listening Tour, a series of sessions to solicit input from the congregation, is underway. The purpose is to hear:
– your hopes, fears, and dreams
– your stories of how you came to TCPC and why you keep coming back
– what is important to you
The Listening Tour team completed sessions with two pilot groups earlier this summer. The Prayer Shawl group and Wine, Women and the Word both participated in the Listening Tour. The full tour will officially kick off in September and should be completed by the end of the month. Sessions have been scheduled with the Men’s Breakfast, Bible Blazers, Chancel Choir, Fun, Faith on Fridays (FFF), and the softball team. To make sure everyone has an opportunity to contribute, a general session with adults is scheduled during the Bible Study hour on Sunday morning, Sept. 16. If additional sessions are needed, they’ll be scheduled too. What happens at a Listening Tour session? Small groups chat and talk. Participants do not have to prepare for a session. The Listening Tour team takes notes to record what is heard. After the Listening Tour is completed, the team will compile all their notes and summarize key themes and priorities. They will provide the report to the Pastor Nominating Committee to use as it begins the search for a new pastor. A report also will go to the church as a whole to serve the congregation in many other areas of planning. Please take part in one of the Listening Tour sessions coming up. Dates will be announced. You can make your contribution to planning TCPC’s future!
